S Simon the Zealot (Luke 6:15, Acts 1:13) was one of the apostles. Simon of Cyrene (Mark 15:21, Matthew 27:32, Luke 23:26) was the otherwise anonymous man who carried the Cross. Servant of God Pope John Paul II wrote a moving poem cycle about him, but so far as I can tell, he is not considered a saint. He doesn't seem to be in Butler's or the Golden Legend, and the Catholic Encyclopedia doesn't describe him as a saint. It seems a pity, but it almost makes sense. He almost means more if he isn't publicly praised.
Oct. 28 is St. Simon the Zealot. Are they the same as Gloria suggests. If so why two post for the saints, one as Cyrene and one as the zealot?
Could catholic .org give me a date for Simon of Cyrene remembrance? He is my grandson's patron by his father's wishes and I celebrate name days with a religious card. I need a date.
While looking for information on St.Simon I discovered the day he is celebrated is October 28th.
What is the date on which St. Simon is rememberanced?
i just wanna ask if Saint Simon was a Saint??? and when he was biatified??? please enlighten me...
thanks and god bless
