   St. Leonard is the patron saint of horses. In the small German town of Lauf (near Baden-Baden in southwest Germany) on the Sunday nearest St. Leonard's feastday, November 6, there is a processession led on horseback by the parish priest and town dignitaries. Afterwards there is a bake sale to benefit the parish church, St. Leonhard's. The number and variety of homemade cakes and pastries is astonishing .

   I am of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Oko, in the Diocese of Awka, Nigeria. Thanks be unto the Lord Almighty who made it possible for me to locate my patron saint today. I am now relieved and I feel like one who found his father after years of wandering in search. I can now understand where my suicidal/fatalistic passion for the plight of people under captivity, oppression and injustice comes from. Almighty Father, I thank You.

    My Grandson was asking if Leonard was a saints name as he is thinking about choosing it as his Confirmation name. I was pleasantly surprised to see that he exists.
