One of the Twelve Apostles of Ireland, a relative of St. Columba. Becan founded a monastery at Kill-Beggan, Westmeath, which in time became a Cistercian Abbey. The parish in Imleach-Becain, in Meath, was named after him.

I am interested in learning more about both of the St. Becan(s)that are listed here. What were their histories? Why were each of these men canonized? What is the history and meaning of the name? Please advise me as to were I may continue my search for information.
