St. Phoebe
Phoebe (1st century) was a deaconess of the Church at Cenchreae, the port of Corinth. She was recommended to the Christian congregation at Rome by St. Paul, who praised her for her assistance to him and to many others. She may have brought Paul's epistle to the Romans to Rome with her. Her feast day is September 3rd.

i'm so proud that this is my birth name-i've been raised in a really secular household and to know that my great grandmother named me after so important a biblical figure is really assuring. i pray that she is with me.
My book will be finished soon. Maybe I should pray to her to help me find a publisher.
Il really appreciate this feature of your web site. It brings into my home the most facinating Saints, most of which I know nothing about. St Phoebe is an unexpected blessing of the importance of women in the church so long ago. Thank you again..
St. Phoebe, you stress to us, all women out there that God has intended a role, an obligation to work in His kingdom. Like Lydia, the purple seller, you assisted St. Paul in his work of evangelisation, and making Christ know to the pagan world. In your case you carried St. Paul's letters to the Romans, probably, taking risks to your own safety. All women can take inspiration from your outstanding example. Help us lay women and all religious women recognise that God intends for us to work in His vineyard. Please help is to respond to His call. Amen.
