Gospel Reflections Luke 15:1-3 11-32
Uploaded by on Mar 1, 2013
Today's Gospel reading brings us the well known parable of the prodigal son. The story is one that is a welcome one in the midst of this Lenten season. As we continue in Lent to look within where we have sinned, are stuck in sinful patterns and humble ourselves before God seeking forgiveness and conversion we are given hope in this parable. When the prodigal son returns to his father in humility he is welcomed back lovingly by his father. Indeed his father throws a celebration for him. So it is with our Heavenly Father. When we come to our God in humility with a repentant heart our Lord welcomes us back with outstretched arms and Heaven celebrates our return to communion with all the Angels and Saints. What a comfort to know that now matter how far from the path to Heaven we have wandered our Savior waits to take us by the hand and take us back on the path to eternal joy.
