To "be able to walk on the path of peace, mankind and nations must be illuminated by the face of God." A homily characterized by hope, although not without concern for the future of humanity, was delivered by Benedict XVI this morning in the course of the celebrations of the Solemnity of Mary, the Mother of God, and the 42nd World Day of Peace. The Holy Father invited all to fight the poverty "that prevents individuals and families from living according to their dignity, a poverty that offends justice and equality and, as such, threatens peaceful coexistence."
