Knights of Columbus Fish Fry Returns

Plainfield, Illinois, February 12, 2006 - With Lent around the corner, The Knights of Columbus, Good Shepherd Council 5573, announced today that once again the Friday Fish Fry will take place at St. Mary Immaculate Parish on RT.59 in Plainfield from 4:00 pm - 7:30 pm starting March 3 and running each Friday through April 3, 2006. During the 2005 Lenten season 1,200 - 1,300 meals were served each week.

Long an annual staple of the Plainfield community, the fish fries will feature several meal options for Icelandic Cod and shrimp dinners, as well as Deacon Jim's grilled cheese sandwiches and pizza. Fish, shrimp and Deacon Jim's grilled cheese dinners include choice of baked potato or fries, coleslaw, roll and butter.

Beverages including beer and wine are available for purchase. The Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights will be sponsoring the annual dessert table of homemade delicious treats. During the evening raffles will be conducted with prizes awarded throughout the religious season of Lent. Carry-out orders may be placed by calling 815-436-2651, extension 841 between the hours of 4:00 to 7:00 pm.

The money raised from this annual event is donated to local charitable organizations and churches.

The Knights of Columbus, Good Shepherd Council 5573, of St. Mary Immaculate Catholic Parish is a Catholic fraternal organization of over 300 members. Founded in 1964, the Knights, Squires and Ladies Auxiliary of Good Shepherd Council 5573 perform works of service to the community through volunteer activities and charitable donations, supports the worldwide Catholic Church and its teachings. It is a family oriented organization with a Ladies Auxiliary and a Squires program for young men in fifth grade and above to learn the values of charity, patriotism and service. Above all, the Knights seek to enhance and live the gospel teachings of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Founded over 120 years ago by Fr. Michael McGivney, Knights all over the world support his canonization to Sainthood.
