News is spreading that something bizzare is happening. Why don't we know the truth?

A news report published yesterday on the sensational website, "Infowars" asks if patients with Ebola are being "disappeared" to prevent panic in the United States. The claim cannot be dismissed because there are several matching reports from across the country.

LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - The report says that the U.S. government, which is under intense criticism for failing to protect its borders and quarantine or restrict travel into the country from Ebola ravaged areas, is "disappearing" Ebola cases as they arrive to prevent hysteria.

It is unclear if the U.S. government even has such power to detain people, or if citizens can refuse, however throughout all American history, people with contagious illnesses have been detained upon arrival.

Help fight diseases by providing medicine to those in need.

The possibility that the government may be disappearing people is frightening for several reasons. For one, the government may be overstepping its constitutional boundaries by herding sick people into vans and carting them away to places unknown. Second, nobody has ever reported coming back from these places, so if they are being detained, what's happening to them? Finally, the accusations suggests that the Ebola situation is much more serious and out of control than we even imagine and our country is at serious risk, particularly with so many people coming in.

The reports could be false -classic news sensationalism, however there are cases being reported by credible eyewitnesses across the nation.

James Lawrenzi, an Osteopathic doctor, spoke on Infowars telling host Alex Jones that the true extent of the crisis is being downplayed. According to Lawrenzi, he was told by a doctor in Kansas City that a patient had presented with all the classic symptoms of Ebola, but that he had promptly disappeared. Nobody knows what happened to the patient, although it was explained that his condition was so severe, he could not have left the hospital on his own. Someone had to have removed him from the facility.

Such an incident should have made national news, but obviously it did not. Why, remains unanswered.

A second patient also appeared the following day and also inexplicably disappeared.

"These patients are disappearing, they're doing something with the patients and God knows where they're going," he told Jones.

The doctor's speculation was that the CDC was engaging in a cover-up to avoid hysteria and that the situation is much worse than we are being told.

To the south, a 27-year veteran of the Border Patrol, Zach Taylor,  previously told Infowars that potential Ebola victims were being detained and disappearing. An Inforwars medical correspondent, Dr. Edward Group, also claimed that the CDC was responding to just half of the calls about Ebola cases. He also affirmed that he heard Ebola cases were being disappeared.

There are some immediately apparent questions. Is Infowars playing up the hype for its audience? It's possible, however these claims should be considered. Not all of the news is actually news. Often, the truth is obscured by mainstream media outlets and Americans need to turn to alternative media sources for information. Catholic Online has already confirmed that some kind of coordinated censorship is happening in real time, particularly concerning the terror conflict in Syria and Iraq. .

Is the government also being dishonest about Ebola, disappearing patients, and censoring the media? Catholic Online has not witnessed any censorship related to its attempts at Ebola coverage, but that does not mean it isn't happening.

However, if Ebola were more widespread in the nation, it would seem that more cases would be reported, simply because the government has practical limits on what it can control.

While we are inclined towards skepticism in this case, we cannot rule out the possibility that our government is engaging in practices that would offend the Constitutional sensibilities of most Americans. Certainly, we are inexplicably ignoring the common sense precautions of restricting travel and quarantining potential cases before admitting these people into the country. Why is there no 21-day waiting period for people attempting to enter the U.S. from affected areas?

The combination of apparent government ineptitude and public concern has created a climate where information and misinformation can mingle freely in the public discourse.

Perhaps this is the proof of the deception in the most powerful country on the planet. We should all know the truth, yet nobody does.
