LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - The Islamic State captured at least ten Kurdish prisoners last week, taken in arms against the terrorists. They then executed the captives by beheading, filming and photographing the brutal murders. That footage was shared online, but has since been suppressed by international censorship efforts.

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, the prisoners were captured by the Islamic State during a battle for the Kurdish town of Ayn Arab, which is near the border with Turkey. Some of the fighters were women. The Kurds accept female volunteers who fight alongside the men against the Islamic State.

Help stop the senseless slaughter of Christians in the Middle East.

However, the Islamic State is especially ruthless with prisoners, having allegedly murdered hundreds-if not thousands of prisoners. Prisoners captured by the Islamic State are often terrorized before their execution, being taunted, herded, forced to dig their own graves, made to chant praises to the Islamic State, and compelled to watch while they wait their turn to be killed.

The tactics are intended to terrorize others and to cower opposition before it begins.

As for the Kurdish women, they were beheaded and their heads were placed on blocks for others to see, a prominent declaration that the Islamic State does not discriminate when killing enemies.

The images were posted on social media, but have since been censored.
