Dear readers, Catholic Online was de-platformed by Shopify for our pro-life beliefs. They shut down our Catholic Online, Catholic Online School, Prayer Candles, and Catholic Online Learning Resources—essential faith tools serving over 1.4 million students and millions of families worldwide. Our founders, now in their 70's, just gave their entire life savings to protect this mission. But fewer than 2% of readers donate. If everyone gave just $5, the cost of a coffee, we could rebuild stronger and keep Catholic education free for all. Stand with us in faith. Thank you.Help Now >

An angry mob in Congo has exacted a horrifying revenge on a man they believed was a member of an Islamic State affiliated terrorist network. The victim was stoned, burned, and eaten by villagers in a remote region of the country that has been plagued by terrorist attacks.
LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - A man suspected of being a member of an Islamic State allied terror group has been stoned, burned and eaten by villagers in a community in a remote part of Northeastern Congo. The community was anxious for revenge and has been on edge for days after a series of attacks by an Islamic terror group that has left over 100 innocent people dead.
A new Islamic terror threat has developed in Congo, known as the "Allied Democratic Forces-National Liberation Army of Uganda" (ADF-NALU) has been in existence since 1996, but its Islamic members have aligned themselves with Al Shabaab, the Somali ally of the Islamic State. Recently, their numbers have grown and they have started to make attacks on both sides of the Congolese-Ugandan border. Their goal has generally been to terrorize and destabilize the Ugandan government. They protect themselves by establishing bases on the Congolese side of the border.
Act now to protect Christians from Islamic State persecution.
Within the past week over 100 local people living in villages along the border have been killed by terrorists wielding hatchets and machetes. This has made people wary of strangers. When one such stranger was caught riding a bus carrying a machete and unable to speak the local Swahili, his fate was sealed.
Angry villagers dragged the man off the bus and pelted him with stones. He didn't stand a chance against the mob that formed and was stoned to death.
Killing him wasn't enough to assuage their anger. Once dead, they lit his body aflame until it was charred. In a final horrifying twist, some of the villagers reportedly began taking parts of his remains and eating them.
Local authorities recovered the trunk of his body and deposited it into a bag for removal. The killing should send a message to the terrorists that they ought to expect no quarter if caught.
The President of Congo, Joseph Kabila warned that the ADF-NALU would be destroyed by the army. The Congolese army in alliance with UN forces recently defeated M23, another rebel group infamous for using child soldiers and preying on civilians.
President Kabila encouraged young men to join the army and for the public to support government forces being deployed to protect against the ADF-NALU.
Peacekeepers from the UN have also moved into the border region to provide improved protection for the people there.
