'If you guys know the real meaning of Isis, it's after a goddess, the goddess of love.'

Fourteen-year-old Isis Brown admitted she has been bullied for sharing her name with the well-known terrorist group responsible for the deaths, rapes and pillaging of towns across the Middle East, as well as their expansion to the world beyond.

Highlights

LOS ANGELES, CA (California Network) - Brown took to Facebook to post a video introducing herself and to say, "All you people out there that have the name Isis, I know what you're going through.

"I have gotten used to -last year at school I was called 'terrorist.' Same with this year. I had people come up to me, 'why are you killing us Americans?' I'm an American too, like, how are you gonna say that? You know?

"Oh, came up to me and said, 'I saw you on the news last night.' I would say, 'how?' They'd be like, 'you were killing people.' That was not me. I'm not part of the ISIS group. I'm not a terrorist. You guys know the real meaning of Isis?

"It's after a goddess, the goddess of love. And for all you people out there that are getting picked on this name, don't do what I did. Don't start skipping classes because you're scared to go because you're scared of getting made fun of. Don't hide somewhere and cry.

"You be the bigger person and show that you're not putting up with this anymore. That you can fight this battle. That you're not gonna let some wannabe bullies pick on you. Coz you have it in you. This year, people that still called me 'terrorist,' I have cried and now they're putting it on my Facebook page.

"Two days ago I came home and I saw that and I curled up in bed and I cried. It really broke me. Well guess what guys? That's cyber bullying. That's not even right. So you kids out there with the name Isis, love your name. Cherish your name. I'm still learning and I know you guys are too, but our reality, you're named after a goddess.

"You're not named after the terrorist group. Thank you, bye."

Brown was obviously on the verge of tears throughout the video, which has been viewed over 107,000 times since its initial posting.

Doris Brown, Isis' mother, told KJRH that her daughter has switched junior high schools, where "They handle it much better than the other school she was at. They are really supportive, the teachers are and the principal."

Meanwhile, Isis' father, John, reported her name came from the Egyptian goddess of health, marriage and wisdom, adding, "They always loved her name, thought it was the most beautiful, unique name. People always wondered where she got it from."
