Pope Francis has invoked Mark, Chapter 13 as a warning that we may be approaching the end times. He suggested that what he has seen appears to fit the end times as described by Jesus.

LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - Pope Francis has warned that we could be in the end times as described in Mark, chapter 13. In the Book of Mark, Jesus told His disciples about the destruction that would presage the end of the world. On Nov. 15, Pope Francis invoked Mark 13 to illustrate the times we are living in. He also made specific references to ISIS and terrorism and the Paris attacks.
7 When you hear of wars and rumours of wars, do not be alarmed; this is something that must happen, but the end will not be yet.
8 For nation will fight against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be earthquakes in various places; there will be famines. This is the beginning of the birth-pangs.
(Mark 13:7-8)We certainly live in a time where there are wars and rumors of wars to come. There can be no question that the world has gone to war in the Middle East with more countries joining as the threat from ISIS looms. But then, there's the rumor of a larger war between the East and West, as Russia takes the opposite side from the USA. Will the conflict in Iraq and Syria expand into a fully-global war?
Pope Francis has already said that World War III has begun in "piecemeal" fashion.
9 'Be on your guard: you will be handed over to sanhedrins; you will be beaten in synagogues; and you will be brought before governors and kings for my sake, as evidence to them,
10 since the gospel must first be proclaimed to all nations.
11 'And when you are taken to be handed over, do not worry beforehand about what to say; no, say whatever is given to you when the time comes, because it is not you who will be speaking; it is the Holy Spirit.
12 Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child; children will come forward against their parents and have them put to death.
13 You will be universally hated on account of my name; but anyone who stands firm to the end will be saved. (Mark 13:9-13)
Christian persecution is on the rise. By even the most conservative estimates, about 8,000 Christians die each year for their faith. That's about one person per hour is martyred somewhere in the world for Christ.
Certainly we have witnessed a new wave of Christian persecution. ISIS has beheaded Christians, driven them from their ancient homes in the Middle East and forced them to choose between conversion or death.
23 You, therefore, must be on your guard. I have given you full warning.
24 'But in those days, after that time of distress, the sun will be darkened, the moon will not give its light,
25 the stars will come falling out of the sky and the powers in the heavens will be shaken. (Mark 13:23-25)
The last sign will come from the heavens.
While Pope Francis mentioned that dark times do pass, he also told the crowd to be ready.
Does Pope Francis know the end of days is coming soon? Pope Francis is not known for hyperbole. His references to a Global World War III and the end times should be taken seriously. Even of the Second Coming of Christ is not at hand, it is wise for each person to be ready to go at a moment's notice, for illness or accident still overtake thousands of souls per day.
This reinforces the calls of Our Lady, who asks for the conversion of our hearts. We must confess our sins, perform penance, receive Jesus Christ with a clean heart, and pray. We must serve as the light of Christ to others. When they see our light, they will be drawn towards us and their hearts will be converted too. The Holy Spirit is so powerful in the heart of a faithful Christian, that it will be irresistible. There will be no need to preach or to debate or fight, for the Holy Spirit will suffice. Let it be done according to thy will.
The Year of Great Jubilee is upon us. Let us use this extraordinary occasion of mercy to prepare ourselves for the end of day, whether they come for us alone or the world entire, may our witness never falter; may we be ready to meet our Lord, Jesus Christ.
