Little girl looking Dear readers, Catholic Online was de-platformed by Shopify for our pro-life beliefs. They shut down our Catholic Online, Catholic Online School, Prayer Candles, and Catholic Online Learning Resources—essential faith tools serving over 1.4 million students and millions of families worldwide. Our founders, now in their 70's, just gave their entire life savings to protect this mission. But fewer than 2% of readers donate. If everyone gave just $5, the cost of a coffee, we could rebuild stronger and keep Catholic education free for all. Stand with us in faith. Thank you. Help Now >

LOS ANGELES, CA - (Rise Above Health), Regardless of the type of hair you have, the color of your hair is or even how long it is, you can have beautiful, shiny healthy hair. Here are 5 foods that we can eat to help our hair look beautiful and healthy.
No child should go hungry, please help today

1 - Eggs are very rich in biotin, a B vitamin essential for hair growth, and scalp health. Biotin is produced in our intestines and is found in many other foods like peanuts, leafy green vegetables, liver and Saskatoon berries. A deficiency in biotin is rare but can cause hair loss.

2 - Chicken and lean meat protein contains heme iron, and is easily absorbed by the body. Protein is essential for all cell growth, including hair cells. Hair is made up of keratin, a hardened protein. Without enough protein in our bodies, our hair will grow slowly and become weak and break easily.

3 - Lentils, soybeans, tofu, and starchy beans are all iron rich proteins that contain non-heme iron. Vegetarians need to eat the most iron rich plant foods combined with foods high in vitamin C. Vitamin C improves the body's ability to absorb non-heme iron.

4 - Bell Peppers of any color are a delicious source of vitamin C, which is necessary for healthy hair. Vitamin C helps the body use the non-heme iron and ensure there is enough iron in our blood to carry oxygen to the hair follicles.  Vitamin C deficiencies leads to dry, split hair that breaks easily.

5 - Sweet potatoes, carrots, kale, butternut squash, cantaloupe and asparagus are Beta-carotene rich foods. Beta-carotene converts to vitamin A in the body and is necessary for all cell growth. A deficiency leads to dry, dull, lifeless hair and skin.

I am sure that I have left out many other wonderful food sources for healthy hair like blueberries, oysters and salmon. But the 5 listed above are my favorites to eat. Everyone tells me my hair is beautiful and my hair is to my waist and still growing like a weed.

My Tip of the Day: For dry skin, incorporate more avocados into your diet. They're rich in monounsaturated fat and vitamin E, both of which promote healthy skin. Try them on salads and sandwiches, and even in smoothies.

Until next time, I believe that Faith can move mountains!
