SISTER ELIZABETH WORLEY, SSJ, NAMED CATHOLIC HOSPICE PRESIDENT AND CEO

MIAMI - October 4, 2004 - Sister Elizabeth Anne Worley, SSJ, was named chief executive officer of Catholic Hospice by its Board of Directors on September 30, 2004. She will assume the responsibilities of president and CEO of Catholic Hospice on October 4, 2004.

Sister Worley, who is a member of the Sisters of Saint Joseph in St. Augustine, Florida, has been a healthcare leader in South Florida for 19 years.

"Sister Elizabeth has devoted many years to improving the quality of Catholic healthcare in our community. Catholic Hospice will benefit greatly from that vast experience and knowledge," said Msgr. Tomas M. Marin, Chair of Catholic Hospice Board of Directors.

Catholic Hospice began its search for a new chief executive after the departure of former CEO Anthony Palumbo. Barbara Janosko, who has served as interim CEO, will resume her duties as vice-president of corporate compliance and performance improvement. The Board selected Sister Elizabeth as CEO after an extensive search.

"I am honored to have been selected for this position and to be entrusted with the mission of Catholic Hospice. It will be a privilege to serve with Catholic Hospice staff in meeting the challenges ahead," said Sister Elizabeth.

Prior to receiving her M.B.A. with valedictorian honors from the University of Miami, Sister Elizabeth earned a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry from Barry University with magna cum laude honors in 1973, a Master of Arts degree in chemistry at Villanova University in 1978. Before being called to the healthcare ministry and becoming chairperson of Mercy Hospital's Board of Trustees, she taught high school and advanced placement chemistry for fifteen years at LaSalle and Madonna High Schools.

Catholic Hospice, accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, provides end-of-life care services that include at home and inpatient hospice services, medication, medical supplies and nursing care, personal care, pain management, family education, spiritual and emotional support and grief counseling. Catholic Hospice, Medicare and Medicaid-certified, is cosponsored by the Archdiocese of Miami and Mercy Hospital. It was established in 1988 and employs 166 South-Florida residents while having over 300 volunteers that serve Dade and Monroe counties.

Catholic Hospice is a not-for-profit health care organization providing end-of-life care to terminally ill patients and their families throughout Miami-Dade and Monroe counties. Catholic Hospice is dedicated to the preservation of the quality of life of people facing end of life issues. They provide pain control and symptom management, as well as spiritual and psychological support to over 250 patients and their bereaved families daily, regardless of race, religion, age, gender, ethnic background, handicap, diagnosis or financial resources. Catholic Hospice also sponsors programs such as the L'chaim Jewish Hospice Program, Camp Hope: a bereavement camp for children and other bereavement support groups.
