LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - Xcaret (ISH-kar-et) is a combination of the Mexico's greatest features - it boasts good food, beautiful beaches, fun activities, cultural events, music, natural wonders, animals, plants, insects and the world's largest natural aquarium.
The eco-park is roughly the size of 40 football fields and the experience is certainly one to remember.
The park is so large and beautiful you may be tempted to wander aimlessly to take in the sights, sounds and smells - but be warned, doing so will cost you amazing experiences.
When planning a visit, grab a map and hit the most interesting sites, shows or experiences first.
Watch the Mayan Show or the Flying Men, swim in the underground rivers, snorkel, take a boat tour and, of course, visit the world's largest natural aquarium!
The dining experience is one you should not pass up!
Buy the plus package, which gives access to the buffet restaurant each day. You only get one trip but it's well-worth it.
The seafood is fresh - big surprise there, right? - there are non-alcoholic beverages, delicious traditional Mexican cuisine, savory meals, delicate desserts and healthy options as well.
Like most tourist attractions, the food is overpriced but well-worth it. Trying new food combinations is all part of the experience, so go for it and enjoy!
Go wine tasting, swim with dolphins, watch the history of Mexico show and stay to see a reenactment of ancient Mayan ballgames.
Dance the night away, take in the elaborate costumes and immerse yourself in a historical account of Mexican life.
Take a few days to experience a world set apart, one in which anything seems possible and fun can literally be found around every corner!
But be warned, fellow travelers: Xcaret is too amazing to visit only once! Head back again and again to experience the natural beauty, taste exotic flavors and find adventure!
