Top Secret Area 51 on fire - film footage captures mysterious mushroom cloud, armed security at base

UFO watchers have spotted a mysterious mushroom-shaped cloud over Area 51. The cause of the cloud remains unknown, but it is evidently connected to a fire at the secret military base. Viewers were unable to obtain direct footage of whatever caused the inferno, due to the presence of lethally-armed security.

LOS ANGELES, CA (California Network) - In a video that went viral today, a pair of UFO investigators on a visit to Area 51 spotted a mysterious mushroom-like cloud over the secret base. The couple, named Jimmy and Jackie, were recording their trip when they noticed the cloud along Groom Road. Groom Road leads to Groom Lake, also known as Area 51.

Area 51 has a long history of military research and development. Aircraft such as the SR-71, the Stealth Fighter, and various drones have been tested and based at the remote desert facility.

Rumors abound that the site hosts alien craft. UFO sightings in the area have been quite common, although it they could be the result of secret aviation programs. The federal government barely even acknowledged the existence of the base in 2013.

In the video, narrated by Jimmy, the pair notice the cloud off the road. They stop to film it, then proceed to the main gate of the base. They stop before arriving at the gate, joining a few other enthusiasts who are also stopped, filming the mysterious cloud.

It is evident something big is on fire. Could it be a crashed plane or even a UFO? The dark smoke rising from a single area, in a dense column, suggests it's more then a simple brush fire.

Unfortunately, nobody is able to explore further as the infamous guards who defend the base are spotted, watching everyone from a white truck in the distance. These guards, who likely belong to the Air Force, have been known to aggressively patrol Area 51 and are authorized to use lethal force to prevent intruders from getting into the base.
