Dear readers, Catholic Online was de-platformed by Shopify for our pro-life beliefs. They shut down our Catholic Online, Catholic Online School, Prayer Candles, and Catholic Online Learning Resources essential faith tools serving over 1.4 million students and millions of families worldwide. Our founders, now in their 70's, just gave their entire life savings to protect this mission. But fewer than 2% of readers donate. If everyone gave just $5, the cost of a coffee, we could rebuild stronger and keep Catholic education free for all. Stand with us in faith. Thank you.Help Now >

LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - Anonymous plans to launch its own news website in an effort to circumvent large mainstream, corporate sponsored, profit driven news publishers.
The group posted a note to Pastebin saying, "After observing the events of the last few days, understand that one of our goals is to make questions like, 'Why isn't CNN-Turk airing footage of these massive protests,' irrelevant. Its [sic] time to start getting the real news out there, to everyone. We have to stop relying on big corporations to that for us."
The group has already raised $55,000 to expand the coverage of Your Anon News (YAN), which covers topics that are of interest to the collective's participants and supporters.
Dissatisfied with mainstream reporting, Anonymous says they want to start report the news, not just aggregate it.
The group says it will set a firm launch date in its next press release. The group also plans to heavily integrate Twitter, but they will not integrate Facebook at all.
The post added, "Also we won't auto-attach our .com or account name to everything you tweet - because we're classy."
Most notably, anonymous says it will still aggregate news from "external sources, with permission, via various online independent media sites, as well as videos from YouTube, Vimeo and the like." The website will have a strict policy to avoid posting what it considers to be drivel, propelled by pop culture.
That means no Kardashians, no Beibers.
Instead, readers can expect coverage of mass protests, social movements, and issues that are generally favored by many across the Internet.
The most curious feature of this endeavor is that Anonymous is truly anonymous. The group is a loose and informal aggregation of computer hackers and sympathizers who deliberately conceal their identities from the public. They have taken their brand from the movie "V for Vandetta" by donning the film hero's signature Guy Fawkes mask.
Anonymous has no formal leadership and no organized structure, although key individuals routinely manage to aggregate and direct the group's efforts under the Anonymous banner.
