LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Onlien) - Apple started taking orders for the new phone last Friday. People from the US, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, and Britain, have been able to order the phone. The phone will be in stores this Friday.

The basic version of the iPhone 4S costs only $200 with a two-year contract. It has a faster processor, and a much improved camera compared to last year's model. Some customers were disappointed that Apple didn't launch an iPhone 5, however many argue that the iPhone 4S, while identical to the iPhone 4 on the outside, is radically redesigned on the inside, and is functionally an entirely new device.

Other models of the phone with more memory are also available, although they cost more.
The record setting pace of iPhone 4S pre-orders suggest that consumer demand for the new phone will be higher than for any other previous version of the iPhone.

In addition to rolling out the phone in multiple countries at the same time, Apple is now selling the phone for use on more networks. Currently AT&T, Verizon, and now Sprint will be selling the new iPhone 4S.

The potential customer base for the phone is substantial, which means that the iPhone 4S may become the most ubiquitous version of the iPhone, ever.

Marketing experts also say that the sad passing of Steve Jobs last week, could also be influencing sales. Typically when famous people die, sales of products associated with their name tend to surge.
