Dear readers, Catholic Online was de-platformed by Shopify for our pro-life beliefs. They shut down our Catholic Online, Catholic Online School, Prayer Candles, and Catholic Online Learning Resources—essential faith tools serving over 1.4 million students and millions of families worldwide. Our founders, now in their 70's, just gave their entire life savings to protect this mission. But fewer than 2% of readers donate. If everyone gave just $5, the cost of a coffee, we could rebuild stronger and keep Catholic education free for all. Stand with us in faith. Thank you.

LOUISVILLE, KY (Catholic Sports Net) - ESPN Rise and the ESPN family of networks will be showcasing 16 of the nation's premier teams in high school football this weekend. Among those 16 teams are three highly ranked Catholic high schools, and one particularly sparkling matchup between two of those traditional Catholic high school powers.

CatholicSportsNet.com's preseason No. 1-ranked team, Our Lady of Good Counsel in Olney, MD, will be traveling to Cincinnati, OH to play CSN's No. 6-ranked team Cincinnati St. Xavier in the Skyline Chili Crosstown Showdown. A big, big game in the world of Catholic high school football for sure. The game will be played at St. Xavier on Sunday at 3 p.m. on ESPN.

Points should be at a premium in this game as the No. 1 Falcons will face a stern test from St. Xavier on the Bombers' home turf. Some of the top defensive talent in the nation will be on display as Good Counsel features CatholicSportsNet.com All-American defenders Blake Countess and Vincent Croce. The Bombers will feature two CSN All-American defenders as well, in senior linebackers Steven Daniels and Sean Duggan.

Two great Catholic high school football programs this early in the season will surely affect national rankings. And all that talent on the field should make for a great game to watch.

In other action, Cincinnati's Archbishop Moeller High School will square off against Wayne High School from Huber Heights, OH at 7 p.m. This game is the second of a doubleheader at St. Xavier's field and will be broadcast on ESPNU. Moeller Linebacker Kendall Walker, a nominee to play in the 2011 U.S. Army All-American Bowl, spearheads the Fighting Crusaders' defense.

Three terrific Catholic high school teams playing back-to-back on Sunday, August 29.not a bad way to start high school gridiron action.
