Dear readers, Catholic Online was de-platformed by Shopify for our pro-life beliefs. They shut down our Catholic Online, Catholic Online School, Prayer Candles, and Catholic Online Learning Resources essential faith tools serving over 1.4 million students and millions of families worldwide. Our founders, now in their 70's, just gave their entire life savings to protect this mission. But fewer than 2% of readers donate. If everyone gave just $5, the cost of a coffee, we could rebuild stronger and keep Catholic education free for all. Stand with us in faith. Thank you.Help Now >
House rolls back Obama-era abortion rule, paves way for states to DEFUND abortion mills!
FREE Catholic Classes
The House has voted to overturn an Obama rule that stops states from defunding Planned Parenthood. The rule change now means that state tax dollars do not have to be used to fund the abortion mills.

Pro-life advocates have worked hard for the opportunity to end Planned Parenthood's reign of terror over unborn children.

LOS ANGELES, CA (California Network) -- The House of Representatives has rolled back an anti-defunding rule imposed on states by the Obama administration. The rule prevented states from defunding Planned Parenthood. Such rules are a subversion of democracy and force taxpayers to participate in abortions, although indirectly.
The House voted to overturn the rule, 230-188. Two Republicans voted in favor of the Obama-era rule and two Democrats voted against it.
The rule, imposed via the Department of Health and Human Services, would withhold Title X funds from any state that defunded Planned Parenthood. Now that the rule is gone, states can defund the abortion mills and protect its youngest citizens from harm. It also protects taxpayers by ensuring their money does not finance an organization that engages in objectionable activities.
The resolution, H.J. Res. 43, if passed by the senate and passed by President Trump, will be one of the greatest protections for life in decades. President Trump is becoming the most pro-life president in recent American history.
In the most recent year for which we have a report, 2014-2015, Planned Parenthood performed 323,999 abortions. These are just the ones they counted and reported. It is possible the number could be even higher given the variety of abortifacients and other drugs and procedures they perform.
