Trump is not even president, but he's having an immediate impact.

Donald Trump continues to work harder than most presidents in history, and he hasn't even taken office yet. Today, his team continues to work on their transition while meeting with foreign officials, taking phone calls from dignitaries, and Trump announcing a lobbying ban to help 'drain the swamp.'

Highlights

LOS ANGELES, CA (California Network) - Donald Trump has banned lobbyists from his government, requiring that all officials under consideration must sever all ties with lobbying firms. They must provide proof of such severance before applying to serve under the Trump government.

Lobbyists are one way special interest money influences politics. Operatives for various industries accept positions in government then they use their power and influence for favor the firms they work for. The result is government represents the interests of the wealthy and not the ordinary citizen.

Trump's order will prevent anybody who worked in his government from becoming a lobbyist for five years after they quit. This expands on a two-year ban under Obama.

Lobbyists are also being kicked out of the Trump team following their weaseling in under Chris Christie. Trump apparently fired Christie and asked his Vice President-elect, Mike Pence to take over the job.

Trump pointed out the difficulty in appointing a clean transition team. "That's the problem with the system -- the system," he said. "We're doing a lot of things to clean up the system. But everybody that works for government, they then leave government and they become a lobbyist, essentially. I mean, the whole place is one big lobbyist."

Trump is making good on his promises and his popularity is growing as people realize that he is committed to fulfilling his promises.

At the same time Mike Pence is working on Trump's transition team, officials from other countries are calling to speak with Trump and other members of his team. Their goal is to forge strong ties with the incoming government. Trump will soon meet with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

The Trump team has acknowledged the meeting will be informal and it will take place in Trump Tower. Obama remains president for two more months, so no specific policies will be discussed.

A major point of contention between the two will be the Trans-Pacific Partnership, which Trump has vowed to oppose. Abe fought hard to pass the plan though his parliament and he is keen to keep it.

Trump has also been critical of Japan, saying the nation has not been paying their fair share of the cost of keeping U.S. troops in the region.

Vice President-elect Mike Pence has also warned the incoming GOP government to prepare for sweeping legislation. It is obvious that Trump and his team are thinking big.
