The secret genius of Donald Trump and the favor he's done the GOP
FREE Catholic Classes
Donald Trump may be among the most maligned presidential candidates in recent history. He is roundly detested and despised. He gets no affection from the media and even many of his supporters are keeping to themselves. Yet, he has a strange allure that has enabled him to defeat all rivals. And while the media is trumpeting the upcoming landslide victory for Clinton, the GOP would do well to acknowledge the secret genius of Donald Trump.

LOS ANGELES, CA (California Network) - One can say many things about Donald Trump. Most of what people say today is negative. However, the future may bring a new adjective to his name -genius.
Even since the election of Barack Obama in November, 2007, the GOP has promised to do some "soul searching." Why is the party losing ground to candidates that wouldn't have stood a chance just years before?
We all know the answer. Rich white men are becoming passe. The racial makeup of the nation is changing. The economic future of the middle class is more uncertain than ever before. This is causing fear, and rich white men have the least to fear, and therefore, relate the least to shrinking middle America. And they don't relate at all to minority America, which is growing.
The inability of the Republican party to grasp this simple truth is the reason why the GOP is experiencing rapid decline. At the same time, Donald Trump gets it.
Donald Trump is a rich white male, but he also has a populist message. He has spoken about economic issues that matter to white men. His nationalist, populist message is about jobs. It is about preserving social order, which is a conservative cornerstone. He speaks about "law and order." No supporter of Donald Trump would ever kneel during the National Anthem.
This populism is the real reason why the GOP will not support Donald Trump, and instead many are voicing support for Hillary Clinton, who is an establishment globalist.
Republican personalities are using Trump's commentary and the allegations against him that claim he touched women inappropriately as an excuse to support the globalist. Republicans have stood by candidates accused of sexual misconduct before, so those accusations are not the real reason why they've abandoned their own candidate.
The real reason is their candidate has abandoned them because he sees them as the liability they are.
Americans on both the right and left know globalism has cheated them. This also explains the rapid rise of Bernie Sanders. It's the strange reason why some Sanders supporters are now avid Trump supporters.
If the Republican Party wants a future, it will need to pivot toward middle America. The same can be said about the Democrats. If they want a future, they will need to pivot away from globalism.
Trump's genius is recognizing this disconnect and co-opting the GOP's voters for himself.
Can the GOP save itself? It surely can.
During the time of Abraham Lincoln, the party was remarkably progressive. They advocated the abolition of slavery. A century later, the same party had reinvented itself to advocate for the preservation of segregation. Now, half-a-century later, the party has become the party of big business globalism. The party can reinvent itself again, and the time to do so has come.
Donald Trump is a genius who has saved the GOP by showing them the way forward, even though the GOP rewarded him by throwing him under the bus. Now it is up to the GOP leadership to quietly recognize Trump's genius and reinvent itself, or it is time for the party to die.
One or the other will happen, rest assured, no matter what happens to Trump.
