Dear readers, Catholic Online was de-platformed by Shopify for our pro-life beliefs. They shut down our Catholic Online, Catholic Online School, Prayer Candles, and Catholic Online Learning Resources—essential faith tools serving over 1.4 million students and millions of families worldwide. Our founders, now in their 70's, just gave their entire life savings to protect this mission. But fewer than 2% of readers donate. If everyone gave just $5, the cost of a coffee, we could rebuild stronger and keep Catholic education free for all. Stand with us in faith. Thank you.

LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - Donald Trump has made quite a name for himself, particularly when he takes to Twitter or delivers misogynist messages.

Regardless of how often Trump fuels the flames for his critics, there is no reason people should trespass onto private property to deface or steal peoples' signs of support for the Republican nominee.

Sam Pirozzolo of New York told the New York Post reported a sign in his yard shaped like the "T" in "Trump," decorated with a United States flag, was lit on fire.

"It's a shame this generation that is around now, these kids, feel it's fine to block my First Amendment speech - including almost setting my house on fire. To them, that makes sense," Pirozzolo complained.

After an investigation by the FDNY, the fire marshal reported signs of gasoline used as an accelerant.

Unfortunately, the arson case was not labeled a hate crime, leaving 52-year-old Pirozzolo fuming.

"If this was about my religion or if I was gay, this would be a hate crime," he said. "That someone can walk up, set a fire, burn my property and put my family in danger - it's crazy not to make this a hate crime."

One of Pirozzolo's neighbors sided with him, stating: "No one cares if you mess with a person wearing a Trump hat or shirt. Or burn a Trump sign. They let liberals do what they want. You think cops are looking for who did this?"

City Councilman Joe Borelli believes the burning of Pirozzolo's "T" is "a clear line that's being crossed."

He claimed, "It's reminiscent of cross-burnings, and the message is one of intimidation."

Pirozzolo decided to erect another "T" and will be keeping an eye out for possible arsonists. Meanwhile, in Massachusetts, Arthur Gonsalves is fighting back in other ways.

Sign thieves have plagued his yard since he began to openly support Donald Trump. Gonsalves has resorted to taping black boxes with wires to his signs reading "Danger" and "Booby Trap."

His anti-theft idea certainly worked but when a bomb squad responded to concerned calls, he realized he needed to rethink his plan.

While Gonsalves is working on new theft deterrents, ABC 13 reported more missing sings and several incidents in which campaign signs were defaced with spray paint.

Some signs in Massachusetts were painted with the word "Never" above "Trump" and others have been reported simply missing.

What would possess a person to believe it is their right to destroy, deface or steal private property is beyond anything a rational person is capable of understanding. Please pray for an end to childish and, at times, dangerous protests.
