Clinton has yet to win the Democratic primary.

Democrat presidential nominee-hopeful Hillary Clinton has held her own throughout the primary season despite federal investigations and a Benghazi hearing - but she still hasn't clinched the minimum number of delegates.

LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - Despite AP's claim Clinton has already won the Democrat nomination, the fact remains she has only accumulated 2,203 pledges of the 2,383 necessary delegates.

At first glance, it appears Clinton holds 2,777 while Bernie Sanders falls at only 1,876 but the number of pledged delegates for each is 2,203 for Clinton and 1,828 for Sanders - leaving plenty of room for Sanders to catch up.

The Gateway Pundit, compared Clinton's votes to Sanders', then compared her 2016 primary votes to her 2008 numbers and reported an interesting find.

Thus far, Clinton has received 15,899,116 votes while Sanders falls roughly 3 million short with only 12,193,152.

Though Sanders is behind, there remain 574 super delegates who may or may not jump Clinton's ship in favor of Sanders. As super delegates must wait until the July convention, Sanders has time to wrestle a change out of them.

Meanwhile, an interesting find for Clinton are her 2016 vs. 2008 numbers. In 2008, Clinton received 17,493,836 primary votes. This year, she received roughly 1.5 million fewer votes than 2008, yet she is in the lead.

The comparison reflects just how difficult a time Clinton has had to maintain her lead this primary season. Many believe she has been dominating the polls as easily as Trump proved to be doing but her numbers speak for themselves.

The Gateway Pundit revealed Democrats lost nearly 7 million primary votes this year, with over 35 million votes cast in 2008 but only 28 this year. Is the Democrat party dwindling? Can it lead to Trump's dominance during the presidential vote in November? Maybe, just maybe, it does.
