We ask you, urgently: don’t scroll past this

Dear readers, Catholic Online was de-platformed by Shopify for our pro-life beliefs. They shut down our Catholic Online, Catholic Online School, Prayer Candles, and Catholic Online Learning Resources—essential faith tools serving over 1.4 million students and millions of families worldwide. Our founders, now in their 70's, just gave their entire life savings to protect this mission. But fewer than 2% of readers donate. If everyone gave just $5, the cost of a coffee, we could rebuild stronger and keep Catholic education free for all. Stand with us in faith. Thank you.

'One area where we expect the majority of our growth potential to come from in the years ahead is our international customers.'

The United States provides 33 percent of the world's arms such as fighter jet aircraft, tanks and more - so which countries are buying?

Highlights

LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - According to the Defense Security Cooperation Agency, the number one country purchasing American-produced arms is Saudi Arabia.

Despite the country's ongoing murdering spree, the United States continues to sell arms to Saudi Arabia.

Other top purchasers include Middle Eastern countries such as Turkey, Iraq and Egypt, South Korea, Singapore, Australia and India.

The Middle East is likely to remain top purchasers as ISIS continues to spread its particularly gruesome terror methodology.

The insecurities of countries currently fighting to stave off the Islamic State have resulted in an increase of US-made weaponry.

In a CNN report, Andrew Hunter of the Center for Strategic and International Studies, stated: "The dynamic of the [falling] oil prices has been overwhelmed by the deep insecurity these countries are currently feeling and the insecure future they feel they face."

Hunter continued, claiming the Middle Eastern arms purchasers were "prioritizing defense" over other spending.

Meanwhile, ongoing tensions between North and South Korea account for the Asian arms sales. Pair the tension with China's claim of the South China Sea and there is little wonder why there is the need for more arms in Asia.

The United States recently announced it would lift the arms embargo against Vietnam, which has been in effect for decades, with Secretary of State John Kerry stating the country would be purchasing weapons to better defend itself.

The importance of America's arms sales is part of the Foreign Military Financing program, which allows the US to offer grants and loans, apart from arms sales.

According to the Defense Security Cooperation Agency, the Arms Export Control Act (AECA) allows the President to offer eligible nations "U.S. defense articles, services, and training through either FMS or, for a limited number of countries, through Direct Commercial Contracts (DCC) channels."

DCC channels are useful as they can be used to create closer ally ties or high interest loans.
