Dear readers, Catholic Online was de-platformed by Shopify for our pro-life beliefs. They shut down our Catholic Online, Catholic Online School, Prayer Candles, and Catholic Online Learning Resources—essential faith tools serving over 1.4 million students and millions of families worldwide. Our founders, now in their 70's, just gave their entire life savings to protect this mission. But fewer than 2% of readers donate. If everyone gave just $5, the cost of a coffee, we could rebuild stronger and keep Catholic education free for all. Stand with us in faith. Thank you.Help Now >

LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - The scandal surrounding de Blasio's fundraising has made headlines since 2014, when a leaked memo indicated his administration violated campaign financial laws in the state senate race.
The memo, from BOE Chief Enforcement Officer Risa Sugarman, alleged de Blasio and his team engaged in "willful and flagrant" campaign finance violations.
Though de Blasio has not received a subpoena, his most trusted aide Emma Wolfe, top fundraiser Ross Offinger, and a consulting firm responsible for running his campaigns, have all been served with legal papers.
The subpoenas are for documents related to de Blasio's questionable nonprofit Campaign for One New York, which de Blasio announced would be shut down as it has served its purpose.
When reporters attempted to question de Blasio on Wednesday, he escaped via side door.
Meanwhile, the investigation continues and all involved continue to move within the confines of the law.
Despite the ongoing investigations, Politico New York reported de Blasio is engaging in more fundraising efforts - this time for his reelection campaign.
De Blasio's 2017 campaign committee's finance director, Elana Leopold, released an email to donors Wednesday morning reading: "I'm excited to share the news that Louis C.K. is introducing the Mayor at our next fundraiser ... As a generous supporter of the Mayor's past campaigns, we'd love to invite you to join the host committee for the event. It's a great opportunity to support the mayor at one of the most fun venues in NYC."
The event has been titled "Mayer Bill de Blasio's Birthday Party w/Louis C.K." but will serve as a fundraiser where chairs will be asked to raise $2,500 each and hosts will be asked to raise $1,750.
Anyone who attends will also be required to contribute a minimum of $100. Apparently, de Blasio refuses to allow something as small as a legal investigation to hinder his political goals.
