We ask you, urgently: don’t scroll past this

Dear readers, Catholic Online was de-platformed by Shopify for our pro-life beliefs. They shut down our Catholic Online, Catholic Online School, Prayer Candles, and Catholic Online Learning Resources—essential faith tools serving over 1.4 million students and millions of families worldwide. Our founders, now in their 70's, just gave their entire life savings to protect this mission. But fewer than 2% of readers donate. If everyone gave just $5, the cost of a coffee, we could rebuild stronger and keep Catholic education free for all. Stand with us in faith. Thank you.

'Barack Obama and his closest aides were interviewed by the FBI in a criminal investigation and his administration doesn't want Americans to have the details.'

Barack Obama was involved in a 2-hour interview after a scandal involving Illinois Gov. Rod Blagejovich revealed the selling of Obama's U.S. Senate seat. The records of that interview have been kept from the public but one watchdog group has been pushing for their release since 2011 - and they refuse to yield.

LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - According to the WND, Justice Watch has decided to sue the U.S. Department of Justice in the U.S. District Court to make the interview notes public.

Since their first lawsuit, which was denied June 1, 2001, the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requested:

  • Records of FBI interviews with Barack Obama concerning or relating to Rod Blagojevich, including but not limited to notes, summaries, and recordings of the interview.
  • Records of FBI interviews with Rahm Emanuel concerning or relating to Rod Blagojevich, including but not limited to notes, summaries, and recordings of the interview.
  • Records of FBI interviews with Valerie Jarrett concerning or relating to Rod Blagojevich, including but not limited to notes, summaries, and recordings of the interview.
  • Records concerning any of the aforementioned interviews with Barack Obama, Rahm Emanuel, or Valerie Jarrett.

Since the 2011 lawsuit, the request has not changed. On June 18, 2012, the FBI denied the Judicial Watch's second FOIA request, and when it was appealed on August 16, 2012, the FBI stated:

"The FBI properly withheld this information in full because it is protected from disclosure under the FOIA pursuant to 5 U.S.C. § 552(b)(7)(A). This provision concerns records or information compiled for law enforcement purposes the release of which could reasonably be expected to interfere with enforcement proceedings."

Despite repeated denials, Judicial Watch's president, Tom Fitton, believes the public has a right to know what was detailed in the interview.

Fitton stated: "This lawsuit highlights the personal corruption issues of Barack Obama. Barack Obama and his closest aides were interviewed by the FBI in a criminal investigation and his administration doesn't want Americans to have the details. The Chicago way shouldn't trump the American people's right to know."

The importance of the interview remains of great importance as Blagojevich has been convicted on 17 of 20 corruption charges thus far, leaving ample space to point the finger toward the current U.S. President.
