Republican voters rebel against party, then a fool says this...

Republican superdelegate makes the point voters are making.

In another sign the GOP elites don't get it, one superdelegate made clear to Republican voters that "we choose the nominee, not the voters." Curly Haugland, made his remark on CNBC following the Tuesday primaries which saw Donald Trump earn even more of the Republican vote. Republicans are looking at the prospect of a brokered convention where delegates, not voters, will chose the next candidate.

LOS ANGELES, CA (California Network) - The Republican establishment has a full-blown coup on its hands. Yesterday, Trump gained big leads, picking up more pledged delegates and reaching halfway to the Republican nomination. Trump now has 646 delegates and needs 1,237 to win the nomination. Ted Cruz, his closest rival, has 396, and John Kasich has just 142 delegates, but does not appear poised to gain any more.

Marco Rubio dropped out of the race after losing his home state of Florida to Donald Trump.

Across the nation, the American voters are expressing outrage with the GOP for their failure to reign in Obama, and their failure to do anything about the problems that concern them. Voters have finally organized and begun the process of booting out Republicans who no longer advocate their interests. This makes the next two years an excellent time for insurgent challengers to displace entrenched incumbents and change the makeup and attitude of the party.

However, before that happens, party elitists like Curly Haugland will need to be dealt with.

In a statement to CNBC, Haugland explained, "We choose the nominee, not the voters."

He is technically correct, as per the party's rules, but what if the voters speak overwhelmingly in favor of a candidate they like? The whole idea that the voters are ancillary to the nomination process is extremely upsetting to people. The voters have asked for their candidate, Donald Trump, and for the party to ignore their choice and offer someone else is the height of hubris.

Voters are repudiating this mentality, it is the reason why Donald Trump is on his way to the nomination, because voters want to send a clear message to the GOP. And retorts like, "Voters don't choose, we do," just reinforces how out-of-touch the GOP leadership really is.

The more the GOP leadership tries to undermine the will of the people, the more the people will want to vote in support of Trump and the coming crop of candidates that will style themselves after the bombastic front-runner.

If the GOP leadership disregards the will of the people and imposes a candidate they don't support on them, then serious consequences could arise. At  minimum, voters will express outrage at the ballot box. At worst, physical violence could erupt.

Voters know enough to accept what the majority rules, but being told to accept what an elite few chooses for them could provoke at dangerous result.

The Republican elites need to start delivering value to the voters, or they need to find other career paths besides politics.
