LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - Cain told CBS's Bob Schieffer that he has not changed his position on abortion. However, he has previously said on CNN, "What I'm saying is, it ultimately gets down to a choice that that family or that mother has to make, Not me as president, not some politician, not a bureaucrat. It gets down to that family. And whatever they decide, they decide. I shouldn't have to tell them what decision to make for such a sensitive issue."

The two comments appear to be contradictory, but what he is saying is that while he is personally opposed to abortion, he accepts that the mother has a choice to make. Such a position may not satisfy either side.

Cain explained in the interview that his comments were "taken totally out of context" and suggested that the remarks made on CNN did not represent his actual beliefs.

CBS's Bob Schieffer then tried to clarify Cain's position. "So in other words you don't... would not even believe in abortion rape, incest or the health of the mother was involved?" he asked Cain."Yes, that's my position." Cain continued, "Thanks for having me clear that up."

Cain also stood by previous, controversial comments about Planned Parenthood. Earlier, he had commented that Planned Parenthood had a secret agenda to kill black babies and was working to commit genocide against the black community. When asked if he stood by that comments in the interview, Cain replied "I still stand by that."

To support his claim, Cain explained that 75 percent of Planned Parenthood facilities were initially built in the black community. He mentioned the association of Planned Parenthood with Margaret Sanger, who made a number of racially objectionable statements, and was tied to the now disgraced eugenics movement. She worked on a project known as the "Negro Project" started in 1939 and sought to provide 'birth control' services to black communities in the South.

Planned Parenthood, has countered saying that Margaret Sanger was not prejudiced against blacks. They stated that their centers are "trusted nonprofit health-care providers to which one in five women have turned at some point in her life for preventative health care and information."
