SPECIAL REPORT: New York's outrageous sex ed for kids
FREE Catholic Classes
It's hard not to feel dirty after learning just what the New York State Department of Education has in store for kids as young as 11. New guidelines for sex education across middle school and high school call for children to be taught "everything there is to know about sex."

NEW YORK, NY (Catholic Online) - The Department of Education is likely to mandate that students be taught about a comprehensive range of sexual subjects in the public classroom. Some of the topics include:
-Anal sex
-Bestiality (animal abuse for sexual gratification)
-Condoms
-Fetishes
-French kissing
-Mutual masturbation
-Oral sex
-Phone sex
-Pornography
-Porn stars
-Sexual positions
-Vibrators
And this list is in addition to the other sexual education topics that are currently taught in schools.
And like a bad infomercial, there is more to it.
A report in the New York Post surveyed the workbooks and lesson plans for the proposed new curriculum and found that students might be asked to:
-Go to stores, make a list of condom brands, and compare prices and features such as lubrication.
-Learn how to get from the school to clinics that provide birth control, STD tests, and learn what their confidentiality policies are.
-Have kids ages 11 to 12 sort "risk cards" to rate the "safety" of various activities including, "intercourse using a condom and an oil based lubricant," mutual masturbation, french kissing, oral sex, and anal sex. Naturally, they will need to know what those practices are to complete the classroom activities.
-Be taught about sexual positions, sadomasochism, oral sex with braces, fetishes, porn stars, vibrators, and bestiality.
And even this isn't the end of the outrageous plan. The New York City Department of Health is advertising a position to hire a "Condom Coordinator" at a salary of more than $80,000 per year. The job will likely include the distribution of condoms to children.
Proponents of the plan say that kids are going to have sex anyway, and that they are going to learn about these topics on their own. They defend the proposal on the basis that it's better for kids to learn this material in an academic environment rather than "on the streets."
While nobody suggests that children should acquire sexual education on the streets, some seem to forget that sexual behavior must first be guided by morality. The Department of Education has not signaled that they plan to include morality in their lesson plans.
Additionally, teaching kids as young as 11 about such topics (topics that should really be taught at home and in church) will "normalize" the behavior and teach children that promiscuous sexual activity is okay as long as they use "protection" and know how to get free services from confidential clinics; services from clinics that could include abortion.
As with most such curriculums, there will likely be a feature that allows parents to opt their children out of at least the more objectionable parts of the curriculum. However, simply opting a child out when the dominant culture becomes one of promiscuity, can make navigating the moral and physical pitfalls of the teenage years far more dangerous--with lifelong implications for what can quickly become an unlucky majority.
