Dear readers, Catholic Online was de-platformed by Shopify for our pro-life beliefs. They shut down our Catholic Online, Catholic Online School, Prayer Candles, and Catholic Online Learning Resources—essential faith tools serving over 1.4 million students and millions of families worldwide. Our founders, now in their 70's, just gave their entire life savings to protect this mission. But fewer than 2% of readers donate. If everyone gave just $5, the cost of a coffee, we could rebuild stronger and keep Catholic education free for all. Stand with us in faith. Thank you.Help Now >
Tempers Flare at Reid-Angle Forum
FREE Catholic Classes
It is possible that Harry Reid is going to lose his seat in the Senate after this election. He and Angle are presently very close in the polls. Given the unpopularity of Reid and this administrations policies among Republicans and independents, this is bound to be a contentious campaign, and not just in Nevada, but throughout the country, especially if the Tea Party continues to come on strong.

P>KNOXVILLE, TN (Catholic Online) - Are people upset or what? Supporters of the Democrat, incumbent Senator Harry Reid and the Republican, Tea-Party challenger Sharron Angle got real physical at a political forum held at a Christian school in Summerlin, Nevada this past Thursday.
About eight-hundred attended the hour-long event. Apparently Reid supporters caused a commotion when they began to leave during Angle's closing statement. Although, there had already been some disruptions due to sporadic shouting. One person called Sharon Angle a liar.
Laura Myers of the Las Vegas Review-Journal writes that the fight started when Kelly Tanaka, a Reid supporter, said a man would not let her pass and tried to push her and hit her. However, some witnesses said the women shoved the man when he tried to get up from his seat.
In all, the fight involved two women backing Reid and a man backing Angle, plus another half-dozen people who tried to break it up. It finally took security guards to restore order. One woman had a red eye. However, the police did not arrest anyone.
Myers also listed some of Reid and Angle's talking points: Harry Reid said he has done a lot for Nevada in his four terms. For instance, he told the audience that he has pushed for renewable energy projects in order to create jobs. He also tried to defend all the stimulus spending. Angle said she had voted against taxes and fees over 100 times as a Reno assemblywoman, while Reid voted for taxes and fees over 300 times. She also explained that the best way to create jobs is to cut taxes and regulations.

Watch that left jab.

Michael Terheyden was born into a Catholic family, but that is not why he is a Catholic. He is a Catholic because he believes that truth is real, that it is beautiful and good, and that the fullness of truth is in the Catholic Church. However, he knows that God's grace operating throughout his life is the main reason he is a Catholic. He is greatly blessed to share his faith and his life with his beautiful wife, Dorothy. They have four grown children and three grandchildren.
