WASHINGTON, D.C. (CNSNews.com) - President Barack Obama spoke briefly on Monday from a military base in Hawaii, where he is vacationing, to assure the American people that his administration is doing everything it can to prevent another attack like the failed bombing of a U.S. airliner on Christmas day as it landed at the Detroit Metropolitan Airport.
But a search of whitehouse.gov more than three days after Nigerian national, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, tried to set off a bomb from his seat on the airplane revealed that nothing about the incident was posted on the official White House Web site.
On Monday afternoon at 3 p.m. EST - the hour when Obama made his remarks at 10 a.m. Hawaii time -- the four lead stories on the Web site were 1) Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama, who joined him for his weekly video address on Saturday; 2) Remarks about passage of the Senate health care bill; 3) Obama's efforts toward jobs creation; and, 4) A holiday wish featuring a photo of the national Christmas tree.
On the "Briefing Room" portion of the Web site where the president's remarks, speeches and statements are posted, no mention of the attack was evident.
The latest entry on the "Speeches and Remarks" page is an entry in Spanish about health care reform, posted on Dec. 24.
On the "Statements and Releases" page, a Monday post by Press Secretary Robert Gibbs, expresses opposition to the construction of Israeli settlements in East Jerusalem.
The latest entry on the "Press Briefing" portion of the Briefing Room is a "gaggle" with Gibbs and reporters aboard Air Force One as they traveled to Hawaii on Christmas Eve.
