Dear readers, Catholic Online was de-platformed by Shopify for our pro-life beliefs. They shut down our Catholic Online, Catholic Online School, Prayer Candles, and Catholic Online Learning Resources—essential faith tools serving over 1.4 million students and millions of families worldwide. Our founders, now in their 70's, just gave their entire life savings to protect this mission. But fewer than 2% of readers donate. If everyone gave just $5, the cost of a coffee, we could rebuild stronger and keep Catholic education free for all. Stand with us in faith. Thank you.Help Now >

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (Catholic Online) - David Brody of CBN News has broken significant news stories throughout this entire US Presidential campaign.
He was present when Senator Barack Obama met with Christian leaders on Tuesday June 10, 2008. That meeting signaled what has become the Democratic candidate's continuing and intensive efforts to present himself within Catholic and other Christian communities as someone who could be an acceptable choice for Pro-life voters.
This has been the candidate and the campaign's continuing claim, even though Senator Obama has made his support of the "right" to abortion absolutely clear and has a solidly "pro-choice" record.
Now David Brody has broken the story that an advocacy organization of the Family Research Council has just released a new television commercial which will run in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Colorado, Michigan and the Washington DC television markets.
The advocacy organization is spending $100,000 to broadcast the commercial.
Contained within the ad is footage of the now controversial speech given by Senator Obama before Planned Parenthood. In this speech he explicitly promised that his very first act upon assuming the Office of the Presidency would be to sign the Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA).
The commercial begins with a woman's voice asking rhetorically what the candidate's first act as President would be, "Fix the economy? End the war? Restore our schools?" The well produced ad then pans to the now notorious speech where Senator Obama says clearly, "The first thing I'd do as president is sign the Freedom Of Choice Act."
The woman's voice then returns asking, "Really. Obama's top priority as president will be a law to reinstate partial birth abortion? Eliminate parental notification? And force taxpayers to fund abortions?" and then concludes "Barack Obama: Dangerous values."
In his "Brody File" for CBN News, David Brody writes: "This is a 100,000 ad buy and will run in the states of Ohio, Pennsylvania, Colorado, Michigan and in the Washington DC TV market. A source at the Family Research Council tells me the following: "We are responding directly to the Matthew 25 campaign - running TV and Radio ads in the same markets targeted by Matthew 25." As you may know, the Matthew 25 PAC is supporting Obama and has aired pro-Obama Christian themed messages on the radio and TV....
Brody continues: "This "Freedom of Choice Act" criticism of Obama has been out there for awhile among conservative activists but unless you are really paying attention to politics my guess is many voters may not know about those remarks at Planned Parenthood."
Will the television commercial have an impact on the Presidential race? That remains to be seen.
