We ask you, urgently: don’t scroll past this

Dear readers, Catholic Online was de-platformed by Shopify for our pro-life beliefs. They shut down our Catholic Online, Catholic Online School, Prayer Candles, and Catholic Online Learning Resources—essential faith tools serving over 1.4 million students and millions of families worldwide. Our founders, now in their 70's, just gave their entire life savings to protect this mission. But fewer than 2% of readers donate. If everyone gave just $5, the cost of a coffee, we could rebuild stronger and keep Catholic education free for all. Stand with us in faith. Thank you.

LOS ANGELES (LifeSiteNews.com) - Mexican heartthrob actor Eduardo Verastegui has issued a pro-life plea to Hispanic voters in the United States in his introduction to the video "Dura Realidad" (Hard Reality), which shows healthy, developing fetuses juxtaposed with footage of abortions and the bodies of those who have died by the procedure.

Verastegui, star of the recent hit film "Bella", sits and speaks to the viewer about the horrifying nature of abortion and its impact on Hispanics, who seem to be disproportionately targeted by the abortion industry, before beginning the Hard Reality video.

"Abortion is an act of violence that kills babies," says Verastegui. "If you think this is an exaggeration, the next minutes are going to change your opinion."

"Did you know that minority children are being aborted at a rate more than double that of Anglo-Saxon babies? According statistics from 1990, 28 percent of women in the United States belong to minority groups, and according to the Centers of Disease Control, 36 percent of abortions are committed by them.

"Hispanics are the most affected by the abortion industry, and I want to know why. The majority of abortion clinics are located in places filled with Hispanics. Why? Newspapers and magazines, radio and television in Spanish, are saturated with advertisements and announcements promoting abortions. Why?

"Abortion is not only a very lucrative business, but it is also used by racist people as a means of eliminating our people, since they think that we are a menace for democracy in this country."

Verastegui says that the "Hard Truth" video has convinced women to keep their children rather than aborting them.

"Unfortunately the majority of people don't know the truth about abortion and its terrible consequences," he continues. "Did you know that in total more than 3,000 babies are aborted every day in the United States, and that 650 of those babies are of Hispanic origin? That is, more than 200,000 Hispanic babies are aborted every year in this country."

Verastegui, who began as a Mexican soap opera and pop music star, experienced a conversion seven years ago and returned to his Catholic faith. Although he initially wished to leave the entertainment industry, he decided instead to use his talents for the purpose of moral edification.

His recent movie, "Bella", which was filled with life-affirming themes, won various awards and saved several unborn children from death.
