We ask you, urgently: don’t scroll past this
Dear readers, Catholic Online was de-platformed by Shopify for our pro-life beliefs. They shut down our Catholic Online, Catholic Online School, Prayer Candles, and Catholic Online Learning Resources—essential faith tools serving over 1.4 million students and millions of families worldwide. Our founders, now in their 70's, just gave their entire life savings to protect this mission. But fewer than 2% of readers donate. If everyone gave just $5, the cost of a coffee, we could rebuild stronger and keep Catholic education free for all. Stand with us in faith. Thank you.Help Now >

WASHINGTON (Catholic Online) - "I endorse him and throw my full support behind him," said Senator Hillary Clinton, referring to her rival for the nomination and now presumptive nominee of the Democratic Party, Senator Barack Obama.
In an eloquent, well delivered, lengthy and thoughtful speech she sought to accomplish a number of difficult things.
First, she endeavored to underscore the historic significance of her candidacy as a woman for the highest office of the land. The "glass ceiling" she said, was not yet broken, but "had about 18 million cracks in it" she told the exuberant crowd.
She sought to underscore her commitment to the issues which she feels so strongly about, the chief among which is Universal Health Insurance Coverage.
She sought to express her gratitude to all who had supported her and to persuade those gathered of the importance, in her opinion, of electing a Democrat to the White House.
She sought to,and did, affirm the historic significance of Senator Obama's assent to the nomination as the first African American candidate of a major Party and to affirm his qualifications.
Clearly and without equivocation she endorsed Senator Obama and pledged to personally work with all of her effort to ensure his election as she suspended her own campaign.
Finally, she sought to bring her supporters, whose response was mixed at times during this part of the speech,to transfer their enthusiasm for her candidacy to the man who vanquished her efforts, Senator Barack Obama.
As to this last effort, only time will tell as the Fall General Election campign unfolds.
