Dear readers, Catholic Online was de-platformed by Shopify for our pro-life beliefs. They shut down our Catholic Online, Catholic Online School, Prayer Candles, and Catholic Online Learning Resources—essential faith tools serving over 1.4 million students and millions of families worldwide. Our founders, now in their 70's, just gave their entire life savings to protect this mission. But fewer than 2% of readers donate. If everyone gave just $5, the cost of a coffee, we could rebuild stronger and keep Catholic education free for all. Stand with us in faith. Thank you.

WASHINGTON (Catholic Online) - Democratic Party officials in Wyoming were overwhelmed by the crowds that showed up for today's caucuses. The scene was so different from 2004, when only 675 people participated statewide.

Senators Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton are contending for the state's twelve delegates, but more importantly, for the bragging rights to another primary victory.

Many caucuses began late due to the long lines for registration. State party spokesman Bill Luckett told the Associated Press that they were obligated to follow its rules as well as those of the Democratic National Committee regarding caucus procedures.

"Everybody knew the registration began over an hour before the caucus was called to order. We've done everything we could to accommodate people in the long lines."

Wyoming hadn't seen much activity in the campaign until just a few weeks ago when Obama and Clinton opened up campaign offices and began their direct mail and media campaigns. The candidates showed up on Friday. Clinton spoke in Casper then Cheyenne. Obama held town hall meetings in Casper and in Laramie.

The next contest comes Tuesday, March 11 in Mississippi.
