Dear readers, Catholic Online was de-platformed by Shopify for our pro-life beliefs. They shut down our Catholic Online, Catholic Online School, Prayer Candles, and Catholic Online Learning Resources—essential faith tools serving over 1.4 million students and millions of families worldwide. Our founders, now in their 70's, just gave their entire life savings to protect this mission. But fewer than 2% of readers donate. If everyone gave just $5, the cost of a coffee, we could rebuild stronger and keep Catholic education free for all. Stand with us in faith. Thank you.

WASHINGTON (Catholic Online) - Mitt Romney physically towered over the man who stood beside him on the platform -John McCain. They appeared together in Boston in order for the former Massachusetts Governor to publically endorse the Arizona senator.

"Things can get pretty rough in a political campaign, and in the thick of the fight it's easy to lose sight of your opponents' finer qualities. But the truth of the matter is that in the case of Senator McCain I could never quite do that," Romney said of his previous opponent. "Even when the contest was close and our disagreements were debated, the caliber of the man was apparent."

Attempts by reporters to have the men comment on their obvious differences and the major disagreements in position during the campaign were minimized. Both preferred to keep the focus on party unity.

"We all know it was a hard campaign. Primaries are tough ... and now we move forward," McCain stated.
The decision to endorse came earlier in the day. Sources indicate that Romney is in hopes of sealing the required number of delegates and beginning early to build toward the November election.

The only remaining Republican competitor, Mike Huckabee, told Fox News that Romney's decision has not influenced him at all about continuing his candidacy.

The former Arkansas governor stated that if he were to drop out now, those states still holding primaries would have no voice in making a choice for their candidate, with the decision being viewed as back room politics. "I may get beat, but I'm not going to quit. It's just not in my nature."

With 242 delegates compared to McCain's estimated 843, Huckabee remains committed to staying in the race until one candidate attains the necessary 1191 delegates. Romney's delegates are up for grabs and under no requirement to follow his endorsement.

Should McCain reach that number, Huckabee stated he would be able to stand with the Senator knowing he had always held the utmost respect for him and acted accordingly.
