LOS ANGELES (Catholic Online) - Several reliable sources have indicated that Mitt Romney, former Governor of Massachusetts, who only recently suspended his presidential campaign, will endorse Senator John McCain.
The Associated press was the first to break the story nationally. Details of the endorsement are still coming in. However, Romney is scheduled to make the endorsement at 4:00 p.m., E.S.T. in Boston, Massachusetts.
The relationship between the two candidates was known to be anything but warm and friendly during the campaign.
However, as former Governor Romney indicated in his speech at the Conservative political Action Conference, his major concern was to ensure a Republican victory in order for the nominee to address serious national security issues.
Most sources indicate that Romney will emphasize these security credentials in his endorsement of Senator McCain. He is expected to ask his delegates to support the McCain candidacy upon the announcement.
