Iglesia en Estados Unidos realizara colecta para financiar obras pastorales en America Latina

La Conferencia de Obispos Catolicos de Estados Unidos (USCCB), anuncio que la colecta anual a favor de la Iglesia en America Latina se realizara el proximo 26 y 27 de enero.

WASHINGTON DC (ACI Prensa) - "La Colecta para la Iglesia en America Latina es una oportunidad para que los catolicos de las Americas compartan su fe y se acerquen mas a Cristo", dijo el Obispo Auxiliar de Brooklyn, Mons. Octavio Cisneros, en referencia a esta iniciativa que tiene mas de 50 años.
El Prelado, recien nombrado Presidente del Subcomite para la Iglesia en Latinoamerica, agradecio "a los fieles de los Estados Unidos por su compasion y generosidad hacia sus hermanas y hermanos en America Latina y el Caribe. He visto de primera mano a las personas en muchos paĂÂses que se benefician de esta generosidad".
En su nota, la USCCB informo que la colecta respalda el trabajo del subcomite mediante "el financiamiento de subvenciones para esfuerzos pastorales, como capacitacion de lĂÂderes laicos, formacion de seminaristas y religiosos, ministerio de prisiones y ministerio de jovenes, entre otros".
Indico que en 2018 la colecta otorgo casi 7.5 millones de dolares "en subvenciones para apoyar a la Iglesia en America Latina y el Caribe, incluidas las areas devastadas por recientes desastres naturales".
