We ask you, urgently: don’t scroll past this

Dear readers, Catholic Online was de-platformed by Shopify for our pro-life beliefs. They shut down our Catholic Online, Catholic Online School, Prayer Candles, and Catholic Online Learning Resources—essential faith tools serving over 1.4 million students and millions of families worldwide. Our founders, now in their 70's, just gave their entire life savings to protect this mission. But fewer than 2% of readers donate. If everyone gave just $5, the cost of a coffee, we could rebuild stronger and keep Catholic education free for all. Stand with us in faith. Thank you.

LOS ANGELES, CA (California Network) - The Supreme Court has issued a series of landmark rulings over the past two weeks.

In Masterpiece Cake Shop vs. Colorado Civil Rights Commission, the court found that a baker who refused to make a cake for a same-sex wedding, citing religious belief, was not treated fairly. The Commission was biased against him which prompted the Court to vacate the previous decision. The decision is a victory for religious freedom.

In a pro-life case, NIFLA vs. Becerra, the Court struck down a California law that required pro-life pregnancy centers to post information about free or low-cost abortions. The Court found that requiring the pro-life centers to post the information could be government-compelled speech and therefore unconstitutional. The government does require some businesses to post some information, but this is usually with regards to the law and employee rights.

The court refused to hear a gerrymandering case. That decision allows state-drawn districts to remain in place.

In Trump vs. Hawaii, the Court upheld the President's right to restrict entry into the United States of people who could be detrimental to national interests. Many people have called the case a "Muslim travel ban," associating it with President Trump's order to restrict immigration from countries where violence and unrest make it difficult to perform security and background checks on travelers.

Finally, in Janus vs. American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees, Council 31, the Court ruled that union dues and fees are taken from employees without consent are a violation of the First Amendment. The ruling has major implications for public sector unions across the nation.
