LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - Scientists from Rutgers University discovered an upwelling from the deeper part of the Earth under New England states. 

Massachusetts, Vermont and New Hampshire all lay above the "large mass of boiling hot rock."

"It is a very large and relatively stable region, but we found an irregular pattern with rather abrupt changes in it," explained Vadim Levin, a professor at Rutgers' Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences, according to the Daily Star. "The bad news is, it's going to erupt."

The findings show that as the magma nears closer to Earth's surface, a volcanic eruption will spark.

"The good news is, it's going to erupt a few million years from now."

However, the team is still concerned about why they found the magma and where it's coming from.

"Nevertheless, the formation may challenge existing theory on the geological structure of New England, generally thought to be a stable and predictable formation," stated Professor Levin. "We did not expect to find abrupt changes in physical properties beneath this region and the likely explanation points to a much more dynamic regime underneath this old, geologically quiet area."
