'It could have happened to anybody and it's unfortunate that it happened to somebody I know, and somebody who was just coming here to go to a Bible study...'

A young woman left a Bible study group held at a Cleveland home on East 128th street around 8:30 p.m. when two men attacked.

LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - The 21-year-old woman, whose name authorities have not released, was making her way down the driveway when two men described only as African Americans dressed in hoodies, blue jeans and ski masks approached her.

She attempted to run back to the house, but one man grabbed the hood of her coat and dragged her down the driveway and across the street.

The woman struggled and started screaming, prompting neighbors and members of the Bible study to rush outside.

She later told authorities the men were pushing her and kept demanding she get into the back seat of her own vehicle, but she refused to stop kicking and screaming.

When the neighborhood realized what was happening, they rushed toward the fighting trio.

The men released her and ran off. Witnesses reported the would-be abductors ran through backyards before disappearing.

Sam Hartman, a neighbor, told Fox News: "It could have happened to anybody and it's unfortunate that it happened to somebody I know, and somebody who was just coming here to go to a Bible study at the church."

Chris Black, one of the Bible study host's neighbors, stated: "I got home; there was a cop car blocking the driveway. It's a nice area, but it's frightening to have things happen like that -- the Shaker Square bank hold up two weeks ago; they are kind of black marks on what should be a nice neighborhood."

NewsNet5 reported investigators are currently working with neighbors in hopes of obtaining surveillance footage that might reveal the identities of the men.

Officers searching the area came up empty-handed with the exception of a few footprints in the snow.

Thankfully, the woman's Bible study group and neighbors were fast to respond. Who knows what may have happened next.

Thank you, Jesus, for your protection. We pray peace for the woman and blessing upon blessing for the community members who came to her aid. Amen.
