Exposing the hypocrisy of liberals who hate Columbus, but love illegal immigration
FREE Catholic Classes
The hypocrisy of the liberal, socialist left is simply stunning. A few weeks ago, we suffered through the accusations that Christopher Columbus was an illegal alien. Today, it's about throwing open our doors to anyone who wants to come in. Unfortunately, you cannot have it both ways.

LOS ANGELES, CA (California Network) - Every Columbus Day holiday, you see the posts on social media and in the news. Somebody wants to re-brand the holiday "Indigenous People's Day" or something like that. Christopher Columbus is labeled an "illegal alien" along with all of those who followed him from Europe.
In Columbus' case our misguided liberal friends would agree that illegal immigration is awful, after all, it resulted in the greatest genocide in world history.
Then, in their next breath, they will advocate for the untrammeled immigration of people into our country from around the globe.
Illegal immigration is fine as long as the people who do it aren't European --is that the take away here?
If this same liberal lived among the tribes of New England, would they advise their companions to embrace the Pilgrims? Probably not. So why do they advise we embrace today's illegal immigrant?
Here is something to keep in mind: the Native Americans did not have laws against illegal immigration. When the Europeans first arrived, they often arrived in small numbers. They traded with the Native Americans and generally were friendly and innocuous. Most Natives did not defend their borders until it was already too late.
First, the diseases brought over in ignorance, weakened the native tribes, then warfare finished off most of the rest. Within a few hundred years, the descendants of those first European settlers controlled almost everything and the Native Americans were on their way to extinction.
The Native Americans did not have immigration laws or well-defined borders in many cases, and millions died.
Today, a similar threat looms as illegal aliens stream into our country.
Nobody is criticizing those who enter the country legally and seek to work then return home, or those who seek to become naturalized citizens. Those people are very, very welcome. Our criticism is reserved for those whose first act in this country is a criminal offense.
The Native Americans did not have anti-immigration laws or departments, but we do today. We have borders and there's a line to get into this country. It's not only impolite to cut the line, it's illegal.
And we, as a nation, have the right to secure our own borders. There is no comparison between Columbus and those who come today by sneaking in.
But both are seeking the same thing.
If you want to condemn Christopher Columbus for arriving here by accident, and moral consistency matters to you, then you should also oppose those who enter the country illegally with intent to do so. Those who do otherwise are hypocrites and fools, and anyone who listens to them becomes a fool themselves.
You're welcome to visit, and you're welcome to stay. All we ask is that you be friendly and follow the rules. If only Columbus had the same attitude!
