'Clown-in-Chief' Obama makes skit about retirement, but here's why we're not laughing

There's a serious side to these matters that the Clown-in-Chief doesn't seem to get.

President Obama, in an act of self-depreciating humor, has made a SNL-style spoof about his retirement. While amusing at moments, we can't decide if the video is good, because to make it he had to take time away from issuing executive orders, or bad, because it must have cost quite a bit to produce.

LOS ANGELES, CA (California Network) - President Obama is a man with a sense of humor, although none of his jokes have been particularly funny, until now at least. If the mood in America is improving, it's because Obama is soon to leave office. Poking fun at himself, Obama has starred in a video about himself dealing with the struggles of presidential retirement.

In the video, Obama visits the DMV, and presents a "birth certificate" to the clerk who questions its authenticity. Goofing off in the Oval Office, he sends a disastrous snapchat on his daughter's phone, takes advice from John Boehner, contemplated smoking, and plays a lot of golf.

Taken alone, the video is amusing and worthy of an SNL opening skit. However, the matters behind the video are actually quite serious, which makes the skit cringe worthy.

For example, when Obama finds his daughter's phone and uses it to send out a Snapchat about Obamacare, he inadvertently selects a filter which turns him into a monster. Of course, the reality is that Obamacare has been a disaster for millions of Americans which is the kernel of truth in the joke.

In a later scene, John Boehner is seated next to Obama in a theater. John Boehner resigned after the American people became frustrated about his unwillingness to confront Obama over issues they felt were of critical importance. During the scene, Boehner offers Obama a cigarette.

Cigarette advertisements are banned on TV, and to suggest Obama might have a puff sends a poor message to kids who might see the video.

While the video was intended to be shown at the Correspondent's Dinner, which is a traditionally humorous affair, the video has also been released to the public, meaning kids are seeing the President contemplate smoking.

The video also suggests Obama may play a lot of golf once he is retired. Must be a nice reward for the guy that has literally failed at every single test of leadership he faced, with the possible exception of nabbing Osama bin Laden in 2011. Although we still haven't seen the proof of that.

We have no idea what it cost to make this video in terms of time or money, both of which could have been better spent. The president's job is to lead the nation, not serve as clown in chief. Unfortunately, it's business as usual.

We're all counting the days together.
