FT. LAUDERDALE, FL. (Catholic Online) - On April 22nd and 23rd, Catholic Witnesses will host their second annual conference in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Flourish 2016, as this conference is aptly named, serves to help Christians flourish in their faith in Christ and witness to the world.

Christians are called to be salt for the earth and light for the world, but many today walk around demoralized in what they call a "post-Christian" culture. "Not post-Christian; pre-Christian!" proclaims Deacon Keith Fournier, who will be speaking on this subject at Flourish this year. "We are in a new missionary age to re-evangelize the West."

Christianity always means sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ to a hurting and needy world. And as the world's hurt increases because individuals alienate themselves from God, ministering opportunities for the Christian also increase.

Immediately after Pentecost, filled with the Holy Spirit, the apostles could not contain unto themselves the reason for their hope. They boldly proclaimed the resurrected Christ to a dying world. We also offer this same message of hope and freedom in Christ to those who are hopeless and captive in sin.

That is encouraging and exciting, not demoralizing! By the power of the Holy Spirit, we must deepen our faith, love Jesus more, and demonstrate our love through our obedience to Him. Then our evangelization will be unstoppable. This is the heart of Flourish.

"Flourish 2016 is a conference for teenagers and adults," explains Victoria Meyer who, with several others, coordinates the event. "Speakers this year, such as Leah Darrow and Ryan Bomberger, have huge youth-appeal! They really resonate with young people."

Leah Darrow was a top model who, after a dramatic encounter with Jesus Christ, became a role model of purity. With an equally moving testimony, Ryan Bomberger's biological mother was raped, yet chose to give him life.  Today Ryan speaks passionately and personally to defend life in the womb.
