Dear readers, Catholic Online was de-platformed by Shopify for our pro-life beliefs. They shut down our Catholic Online, Catholic Online School, Prayer Candles, and Catholic Online Learning Resources—essential faith tools serving over 1.4 million students and millions of families worldwide. Our founders, now in their 70's, just gave their entire life savings to protect this mission. But fewer than 2% of readers donate. If everyone gave just $5, the cost of a coffee, we could rebuild stronger and keep Catholic education free for all. Stand with us in faith. Thank you.Help Now >
Why has the PENTAGON unleashed drones over YOU?
FREE Catholic Classes
The Pentagon has deployed drones over the United States for non-military surveillance missions, according to a report by a Pentagon inspector general. Although the cases have thus far been characterized as "rare," our government has a tendency to lie, and there is pressure to make the flights much more common.

LOS ANGELES, CA (California Network) - According to a year-old report that was just made public, the Pentagon has authorized nearly 20 drone flights over the U.S. for purposes other than training. Those flights have been conducted by government agencies, in an effort to support homeland defense operations.
Until now, drones have been reserved for national enemies.
The flights have been ongoing since 2005, all requested by civil authorities, and approved by the Secretary of Defense. According to the report, the military wants to fly many more such missions to train more pilots. This is even more important to the military as overseas drone operations draw down.
Few other details have been released, and no list of specific requests has been shared with the public. The flights are thought to be legal, strictly speaking.
The problem is that our government has taken another step down the slippery slope of using armed drones on Americans within the USA. The government has already used armed drones to kill Americans overseas.
The Constitution prohibits the government from taking our rights without due process, which is why overseas drone strikes on American citizens is problematic. However, now that it has happened, it is likely to happen again. There's no reason to believe it won't eventually happen in the U.S.
This final step down the slippery slope of drone missions will be a dangerous one, as drones tend to embolden opposition. When the United States uses drones to kill innocent people overseas, we make terrorists out of the survivors. These terrorists will not stop until they exact revenge. Would you?
Our own government is unleashing a terrible new weapon of mass surveillance and death on the American people, and most are wholly ignorant of the fact. This report may simply be the trial balloon to see how much outcry is raised. Since most Americans are busy sharing pictures of Kim Kardashian, they are not paying attention to the fact that their own government is spying on them in a new way, which is said to be entirely legal.
Legal or not, our own government is treating the American people like an armed enemy. Why is our own government flying military drones over our heads, piloted by military pilots? Why are U.S. citizens receiving the same treatment as foreign terrorists overseas? Is our government preparing for something big?
Unfortunately, nobody in the government is going to provide these answers, and if they did, there's a chance they would be lying. When taken as a whole, our government is increasingly out of touch with the people, in cahoots with special interests, in love with its own power and obsessed with control. Now it has drones operating over the American people. It doesn't take much to connect the dots and draw a reasonable conclusion about our future.
