Don't believe the liberal media: Bundy militia action in Oregon is a sit-in protest, not an act of terror
FREE Catholic Classes
Mainstream media would have you believe the Oregon protesters who have occupied the Malheur wildlife refuge headquarters are fire-eating gun nuts who want to start a revolution, but they're nothing of the sort. Instead, the group is staging a sit-in style protest, albeit armed, and a little unprepared. Their goal is to initiate a national dialogue about the role of the federal government in private lives.

LOS ANGELES, CA (California Network) - The Oregon standoff is a mainly a standoff in name only. The Malheur wildlife refuge headquarter building isn't ringed with armed federal agents, and patriot militiamen are not stationed at every window to shoot the first thing that moves. Instead, the scene is literally more of a sit-in.
Ammon Bundy, the leader of the small band of men, who have been described as militia, or even terrorists, is remarkably calm. He has threatened to harm nobody, he has started no fires, no riots, nor is he rampaging anywhere. His act is as far from terrorism as one can get.
At most, the Bundy group is certainly guilty of trespassing. A gun law might be violated, but there's nothing that suggests either people or property are in immediate danger.
On Tuesday, Ammon Bundy gave a news conference, hardly typical of a terrorist takeover. "We understand what it means to be part of a community, and that there is no place for fear and intimidation in a community. It's the responsibility and duty of the people to remove that intimidation and fear so members of the community can begin living, and living in freedom."
Bundy is of course talking about how the Federal government micromanages what ranchers can do and when and where they can do it, regardless of how long they have worked the land. Several families have ranched in the region for over a century and the use trails and pastures that have been used longer than most can remember. Yet, the Bureau of Land Management sees fit to charge grazing fees in otherwise unused land and micromanages ranching across the west.
The end result is dependency on government control for many families, which goes against the conservative notion of self-sufficiency and responsibility.
Ammon Bundy would like to see that reversed and the local people given control over land their livelihood depends on. Such use of the land is unlikely to be destructive. It was not destructive in the decades prior to BLM intrusion, nor would ranchers care to do anything to harm the land they depend on to survive. However, the BLM is an unnecessary and costly interloper.
Attempts by the media and the government, to spin a sit-in into something more are merely attempts to villainize hard-working Americans and to promote a leftist agenda of government control. People need to know the truth, unfortunately they won't get it from the government approved media outlets.
