LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - According to the Gallup survey, the man to beat both Donald Trump and Pope Francis is American President Barack Obama.
Obama received 17 percent of the mentions, while the pontiff and Trump each earned five percent.
Gallup reported Hillary Clinton was named the most admired woman to Americans, with International Children's Peace Prize winner, Malala Yousafzai, coming in second place.Clinton won for the twentieth time, at 13 percent, while Malala came in at only five percent.
Gallup has asked Americans who their most admired man since 1946 and introduced the most admired woman in 1948. Since then, Trump has been in the top 10 four times. Once in 1988, 1990, 2011 and now 2015.
Obama reached number one eight times, earning him a tie with Ronald Reagan and Bill Clinton.
Typical trends in the poll show the men who reach the number one spot are in office as the American president. As DailyMail reports, President Dwight D. Eisenhower was in the top position twelve times, with every year he was in office. As Clinton and Obama are on the top of the woman and men lists, respectively, the trend seems to show no signs of slowing.
The only man appearing on the list who is not affiliated with politics and religion was Bill Gates, who earned two percent.
Malala won the Nobel peace prize in 2014 and still fell behind Clinton by eight percent. Following Malala were Oprah Winfrey and Michelle Obama, each earning four percent of the mentions.
In an interesting statistic, Hillary Clinton has averaged 16 percent in the past but her percentage has fallen three points this year.
