Dear readers, Catholic Online was de-platformed by Shopify for our pro-life beliefs. They shut down our Catholic Online, Catholic Online School, Prayer Candles, and Catholic Online Learning Resources—essential faith tools serving over 1.4 million students and millions of families worldwide. Our founders, now in their 70's, just gave their entire life savings to protect this mission. But fewer than 2% of readers donate. If everyone gave just $5, the cost of a coffee, we could rebuild stronger and keep Catholic education free for all. Stand with us in faith. Thank you.Help Now >

LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - A law enforcement source incorrectly told PIX11 News that New York city has received a "credible threat."
When the NYPD denied any threat, PIX11 News was forced to retract their previous statements.
Commissioner William Bratton held an emergency meeting Tuesday to discuss "increased vigilance" and all NYPD officers received a bulletin following the meeting outlining its tactical plan.
An internal memo mentioned social media could be used and the attack can possibly come without warning, so it would be better to be safe than sorry.
Police will be patrolling iconic locations throughout New York City such as Times Square, St. Patrick's Cathedral for Midnight Mass and many others.
The preparation is a result of last week's school bomb hoax, which left Los Angeles students home for the day and Commissioner Bratton calling the ordeal an "overreaction."
Now, Bratton has decided to take preventative action in the event of future situations.
