We ask you, urgently: don’t scroll past this

Dear readers, Catholic Online was de-platformed by Shopify for our pro-life beliefs. They shut down our Catholic Online, Catholic Online School, Prayer Candles, and Catholic Online Learning Resources—essential faith tools serving over 1.4 million students and millions of families worldwide. Our founders, now in their 70's, just gave their entire life savings to protect this mission. But fewer than 2% of readers donate. If everyone gave just $5, the cost of a coffee, we could rebuild stronger and keep Catholic education free for all. Stand with us in faith. Thank you.

Pope Francis was greeted by an array of World Meeting of Families executive officials.

As Pope Francis' airplane, still waving both the Vatican and the American flags, landed in the Atlantic Aviation of Philadelphia, he was once again greeted by a large, excited crowd cheering him on.

Highlights

PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA (Catholic Online) - With music played by the Bishop Shanahan Catholic High School, Pope Francis was met by Archbishop Charles Chaput, the Governor of Pennsylvania Tom Wolf and his wife, the Mayor of Philadelphia Michael Nutter, Archbishop Vicenzo Paglia -the President of the Pontifical Council for the Family, the President of the World Meeting of Families Philadelphia 2015 Robert Ciaruffoli and lastly, the Executive Director of the WMOF Donna Farrell.

With the biggest and brightest smile, the Holy Father walked down the aviation stairs with "World Meeting of Families, Welcome Pope Francis" pained down the steps. The Rocky theme could be heard playing in the background.

Pope Francis has said his primary reason for visiting the United States was to be a part of the World Meeting of Families in Philadelphia.

As he made his way down the red carpet, shaking hands with all awaiting his arrival, he was presented with a bouquet of Pennsylvania's state flower, the Mountain Laurel.

Pope Francis entered his Fiat 500 as he waved goodbye and sent out a thumbs up. Stopping the motorcade, the Pontiff exited the vehicle to bless a young disabled boy.

Pope Francis once again reminds us all how much he cares and loves all people.

He will be headed to the Cathedral Basilica of Sts. Peter and Paul for his first Mass, with more than 2,000 people, in Philadelphia.
